In the Spring of 2023, our youth photographers participated in a photography project in collaboration with Arts Council Santa Cruz SPECTRA teaching artist Abram Katz that allowed students to explore photography and ways they see the world around them. The project concluded with an exhibit featuring their favorite shots from learning both street and nature photography and participating in workshops on campus at Aptos Junior High School. Through our Lens is about seeing the world through the lens of our youth. A lens that is intricate, beautiful and interesting. It welcomes us to be out noticing things we wouldn’t often notice. Through our Lens is about each youth seeing the world through a unique lens, both dark and bright that shapes their own perspective.
