WHO WE ARE
The Aptos Community Youth Program (ACYP) is a community based youth empowerment program for middle and high school youth in Santa Cruz County. We provide opportunities for youth to become change agents in their local community, and develop valuable leadership skills along the way. By becoming a member of ACYP students have the opportunity to connect their gifts and passions with the needs of our community, and participate in meaningful projects and experiences alongside their peers.

YOUTH LED LEADERSHIP PROJECTS AND EXPERIENCES
In our program, students are encouraged to collaborate with their peers to design and lead innovative community projects to benefit our community. In May 2021, seeing a need for more youth media outlets, a team of students launched our Gen Impact: Aptos Community Youth Program podcast in order to provide an informative and entertaining positive media outlet for youth in our community. Click here to listen to our podcast.
In Summer 2021 we worked on a youth led mural that represented the importance of self care and self love during the COVID-19 pandemic.
COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Our program organizes fun and meaningful group community service opportunities for youth in our community to help connect them to local organizations and get youth involved in issues that are important to them. During the 2020-2021 school year, we participated in beach clean-ups, worked in community gardens and at local food banks, collected and handed out school supplies for our community, celebrated our local Aptos educators and healthcare workers, and painted and designed a Little Free Food Pantry for our community. Community Service opportunities are decided by the youth in our Aptos Community Youth Program Aptos High Outreach Club.
APTOS COMMUNITY YOUTH PROGRAM AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM AT APTOS JUNIOR HIGH
Our Afterschool Program at Aptos Junior High meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in our Lounge on campus. Youth members enjoy a place to rest and recharge after school along with leadership development, art projects, fun activities, and planning service projects in our community.
APTOS HIGH SCHOOL APTOS COMMUNITY YOUTH PROGRAM OUTREACH CLUB
Our high school students are invited to be apart of the ACYP Outreach Club at Aptos High School which is run by student club leaders and supported by a faculty advisor at Aptos High. The club serves as the think tank for our program for the work students would like to do in the community.
The club meets during lunch on campus at Aptos High School. High School students in the club also have the opportunity to engage in opportunities to expand their leadership skills and and gain experiences in project management, community organizing, networking, public speaking, and more!
FUN SOCIAL EVENTS AND RETREATS
We provide fun social events and retreats throughout the year that youth members can attend at no charge in order to get to know other members and destress. This includes, cookouts, art events, outdoor activities, and more. Youth are also invited to plan and organize our social events.
